COVID19
For the safety of the residents of Franklin County and our staff, FCCO has made the following changes starting today until further notice:

  • We are limiting internships and medical school/hospital rotations to our office starting July/August 2021.

The Franklin County Coroner's office encourages educational exploration in the forensic field. We offer internships for college students when pre-arranged through their schools. Students are required to be 18 years old. An internship at the Franklin County Coroner's Office means the student intern would report to the FCCO on a regular basis for a set period of time. Interns must secure a favorable background investigation and urine drug screen prior to beginning the internship.

Those interested in careers in forensics may be interested in checking out The National Association of Medical Examiners Website and read their document "So You Want to be a Medical Detective?".

Those interested in applying for an internship will need to complete the Application for Summer 2024 Internship and include a cover letter explaining your interest and career aspirations, as well as a curriculum vitae with relevant course work and experience. Application and required documents should be submitted through the the following e-mail:  [email protected].  Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

No applications will be considered after May 23, 2024.

Appropriate Areas of Study for Applicants by Department:

Front Office -- administrative professional course work
Investigations -- forensic science, law enforcement, and criminology course work
Morgue -- anatomy, physiology, and mortuary science course work
Toxicology -- chemistry course work with lab experience

Due to the volume of applications we receive, candidates who are not progressing to the interview phase will NOT be contacted or notified of their status.
