FCCO Shadowing Program
The Franklin County Coroner's Office encourages educational exploration in the forensic field. We offer shadowing opportunities for students interested in future forensic or medical careers and currently enrolled in forensic programs or the medical field (mid-level providers and above).
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office offers two types of shadowing opportunities: the Educational Tour and the Shadowing Workshop. Each are offered once in the spring, once in the summer, and once in the fall (see below for dates). A Confidentiality and Waiver of Liability form must be filled out upon entering the facility to participate in these programs.
Educational Tour
This opportunity is approximately 2 hours long, and is open to high school seniors, college students, and community members who are considering a career in forensic science or a related field. It includes an overview presentation to introduce learners to the work that FCCO does each day. Participants will receive a full tour of the facility and staff members will be available to answer any questions that may arise during or after the tour. Interested candidates may submit a Shadowing Request Form for consideration. Should your request be accepted, you will receive an invite to attend the scheduled tour.
